Saint-Romain - Chardonnay

Saint-Romain - Chardonnay

from 240.00

Elaborated in a traditional Burgundian fashion, this wine shows off hints of green apple, citrus, with a slightly creamy mouthfeel thanks to its time spent in oak. This cuvee is emblematic of the Domaine Barolet-Pernot.

“THIS SAINT-ROMAIN IS TREMENDOUS AND BELONGS ON A LIST OF SOME OF THE BEST BURGUNDIES. THE USE OF WOOD ON THIS DOMAINE BAROLET-PERNOT IS REMARKABLY WELL-BALANCED. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL DISCOVERY!”

Bernard Neveu, Head Sommelier of Bristol - Restaurant Épicure (3 Michelin stars)

Meet the winemaker!

A Romain at Saint-Romain! This young winemaker got his start in 2015 when he started to work at the domain his grandfather André Barolet opened with his grandmother Huguette Pernot years earlier. Thanks to Romain’s fresh set of eyes, the domaine is developing and modernizing. The upcoming harvests will be processed by the new press and winery.

History of your parcel

The names appointed to the vineyards reveal the history of the region. The lieu-dit of Sous-le-Château references a castle from the 12th century which used to overlook the village. Sadly, only its ruins remain. At the bottom of the rocky outcrop, this parcel of 22 hectares of Chardonnay, just several feet from the domaine, offer a breathtaking view of the region.
